Professor Lin has extensive working experience in academia, especially in diverse cultural settings and high-level leadership positions. He works in the Department of Education. In the past seven years, He served various leadership positions including the Associate Vice-President for Academic Affairs, head of the Center for Teaching and Learning Development (CTLD), Deputy director of the Office of Bilingual Education (OBE) and the Ministry of Education Funded Resource Center for EMI (2020 to 2022), deputy head of the Department of Education (2019 to 2020) and head of the Practicum Office in the College of Teacher Education (2015 to 2018) at the National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU). Prior to his current position at NTNU, he was a full-time learning researcher at Bournemouth University in the UK and an assistant professor in the Policy and Leadership Academic Group at the National Institute of Education (NIE), Singapore (2009 to 2013). While working at NIE, He was the Coordinator for Management and Leadership in Schools (MLS) program (2010 to 2012). Meanwhile, Prof. Lin is in charge of promoting bilingual education in the public school system and in the higher education sector. He is the PI of the most significant project on integrating bilingual teaching into various subject areas in primary and junior high schools. In 2022, there are about 200 schools in his project working on bilingual education. Regarding pre-service teacher training, Prof. Lin has been working with higher education institutes in Singapore, Sweden and Japan for international practicum since 2016.
His scholarship is recognised nationally and internationally, and he has established close working relationships with many world-renowned Institutes. In 2018 and 2019, Prof. Lin was a visiting professor at the Faculty of Education, Kyushu University, Japan. Also, He is an adjunct professor at the Education University Hong Kong (2021 to 2023). From 1st December 2022 to 30th November 2023, He is an Honorary Professor at the Institute of Education, University College London. His research interests include education policy and leadership, bilingual education, media literacy, comparative education, and multicultural education. He was the executive editor and editorial board member of the Bulletin of Educational Research. Currently, he is an assistant editor of Cogent Education and an editorial board member in several international journals such as Asia TEFL (SCOPUS) and the Journal of Educational Research and Development (TSSCI). In the past decade, Prof. Lin published more than 80 papers and book chapters and conducted 30 research projects in the UK, Singapore and Taiwan.
